Tips for Enjoying Sketching

When art starts to become more of a career than something fun to do in your free time, sketching can turn to something some begin to dread. I have definitely been there. In my personal experience I draw so much for school that I loose any drive to draw for myself, and finding that drive again is hard and is different for everyone. To help I thought I'd share some tips that help me when I don't feel like sketching.
- Take a break: It is totally okay to take a break just not for too long! Drawing is like a muscle you must exercise if you want to get better, but rest is always important. Any break longer than a week may start to get you out of the habit of drawing though in my experience.
- Make time: Plan time to draw for fun by yourself or even with a friend and keep yourself accountable to that. Everyone's schedule is different but I found dedicating some time to just doodle even can keep you inspired and enjoying sketching.
- This sketch is for me only: Sometimes having a sketchbook where you don't post anything in it anywhere or show to anyone can be great for learning to enjoy sketching again. All the pressure is off and you can draw literally whatever you like it can be ugly or pretty the true key is to not care too much about what your making and how it is going to turn out but just creating for fun! Even if you don't like it the only person who will see it is you. :)
